How can Revolution Career Counselling help my teenager with SACE subject selection?
Year 10 and 11 subject selections are critical turning points across South Australia. Choosing the wrong subjects can accidentally lock your child out of a range of university and TAFE programs if any prerequisites may apply. I help your child identify their interests, values, natural strengths and potentials. We can then map out a strategic mix of SACE Stage 1 and Stage 2 units to ensure they keep their future options wide open while maximizing their potential ATAR.
Can you help my child with their AIF (Activating Identities and Futures) subject?
Yes. The AIF subject (which replaced the old PLP across all SA schools) requires students to think deeply about their future, their identity and their career directions. Many students find this abstract and struggle to get started. Revolution Career Counselling sessions give your teen a crystal-clear understanding of their interests and strengths, giving them the clarity and confidence they need to complete and actually enjoy their AIF research tasks!
My teen is overwhelmed by SATAC. Do you assist with university preferences?
The South Australian Tertiary Admissions Centre (SATAC) system can cause a lot of stress at home. It can sometimes be a case of ‘the blind leading the blind’ as parents do their best to navigate a complex system. Once I help your child narrow down their ideal career and career pathways, I guide them on how to research, select and strategically order their University and TAFE SA preferences. This ensures they have a solid primary choice, a backup plan and a clear route to their chosen field.

While school career advisors across South Australia do the best they can, they are often stretched incredibly thin, sometimes looking after hundreds of SACE students at once. What exactly is included in the Student Career Counselling 2 Session Program?
The Student Career Counselling 2 Session Program is a complete end-to-end career guidance program for students and young people. This one on one career counselling service is delivered over 14 days and includes two career counselling sessions via Zoom with full recordings and transcripts. Here is how it works:
Step 1 Two one hour career counselling sessions with John Hogan. On our first session we use the Strong Interests Profile ®, the world's leading career interests assessment. We find your top career interest areas, based on your career personality type, motivators and values.
Step 2 Over the next week you shortlist those careers in which you are most interested.
Step 3 I then provide carefully chosen independent recommendations from the vast array of higher education, training and other career entry pathways on offer. Revolution Career Counselling is the only career counselling service in Australia that provides this independent service to young people.
Step 4 On our second session I provide practical advice and support to help with your decision-making, regarding the respective career and career pathway options you have selected from your Career Interests 'Shortlist'. This includes guidance on setting clear and actionable short and longer term career and personal goals.
The Program also provides:
