Young jobseekers and the job market - a new paradigm. Young jobseekers - primarily Gen Z (the demographic group born roughly from 1997 to 2012, following the Millennial generation and preceding Generation Alpha) - are approaching the job market with a distinct blend of pragmatism, digital-native strategies and a demand for boundary-setting.

Careers Advice: How well are young Australians prepared? Australian parents are widely recognized as the single biggest influence on their children's post-school choices. However, the majority do not actively seek independent career counselling for their children. This gap happens because parents often face systemic, cultural and psychological barriers that lead them to rely on their own advice rather than seek professional guidance.

Relying on artificial intelligence for career counselling risks receiving generic, inaccurate guidance based on statistical probability rather than actual logic or real-world truth. AI is not sentient, does not possess human empathy and thus feels no sense of moral responsibility for your future. AI cannot care if it’s advice causes you vocational, psychological, relational or financial harm.
